From Elementary to Advanced:



From beginning students - essential vocabulary, basic grammatical structures and functions and skills development, through to students at Advanced level -able to competently use spoken and written English in a range of professional and academic situations.
Teaching is task based and students participate and practice language in meaningful situations.
Students will understand the importance of grammar and structure.
Courses are flexible and learner centred and can adapt to the needs and interests of the learner group.
Each course :10 weeks

English for IELTS (Entry Level 4.5 & 5 or equivalent) :

Course Content -
The English for IELTS preparation classes emphasise the
development
of spoken fluency
reading skills – understanding complex texts; what is not directly stated
listening for main ideas, detail, particular information, directions essay writing
understanding question types
active participation in the learning environment
while gaining confidence in approaching an IELTS test through completing practice tests.

   
EAP 1 (Entry Level 4.5) & EAP 2 (Entry Level 5) or equivalent:

English for Academic Purpose - Upper Intermediate (CRICOS Code: 054235A)
English for Academic Purpose 1 - Intermediate (CRICOS Code: 054234B

Each Level:10 weeks

Reading, Writing & Listening
Skills:for academic purposes: preparing well written, well structured assignments, developing reading skills that save you time, identifying main points and key ideas.
Clear thinking: understanding argument, fact, opinion, inference, reasons, conclusion.
Speaking skills: confidence in joining discussion, expressing an opinion, asking questions for clarification.
Independent Learning skills: time management, setting goals, writing a study timetable.
Library and Research skills: analysing information needs, critically evaluating data base search - what is relevant to assignment needs?

High School Preparation Program (Beginner to Upper Intermediate. Minimum entry age 15 years old ) :

High School Preparation Program (CRICOS Code: 058222G)

Course Detail - 25 hours classroom lessons
+ 5 hours of self access weekly and regular sport
English Language and Study Skills:

1) Grammar, vocabulary, academic reading and writing
2) Listening, speaking: confidence in joining discussion, expressing an opinion, asking questions for clarification.
3) Research and presentation skills
4) Study skills including goal setting, time management, organization, homework skills

Students have regular sport and social activities and are introduced to the language of specific school subjects: e.g. Maths, I.T., Science, History

Assessment: Parents and students receive written reports every 5 weeks

1) Reports will say how well students have progressed and where they need to improve
2) Assessment is regular and on-going. All classwork, homework and assignments are assessed and regular tests given.
3) The Program helps students get used to new ways of assessment that will experience when they go to High School
